Nathan McCarter Joinery Wins FENSA Installation Of The Year Award 2020

Posted on: 14th April, 2021

As the awards season is getting back into full swing across many industries, plenty of virtual ceremonies are already taking place. One we keep our eye on each year is the annual GGP Installer Awards, hosted by Glass & Glazing Products Magazine. All about “celebrating and promoting excellence in glazing installation” each of the nine, residential and commercial installation categories can be a prestigious win.

As a major sponsor of the event, industry regulator, FENSA also has their own, special Installation Of The Year 2020 award. Open to all FENSA-approved installers, every installation that’s received a 5-star rating from both the homeowner and a local FENSA assessor is automatically entered – and this year that included Nathan McCarter Joinery.

With FENSA-approved installers completing over 500,000 projects every year across England and Wales, to be included on the longlist of nominees is an achievement in itself. And it’s one that puts each of those companies in the top tier of installers in the UK. But out of all the entries, the judges needed to reduce the list of nominees down to a final six – with just one winner.

Shortlist announcement and win

This year’s virtual event ceremony was held live and online on 18th March with the evening’s compère and ‘voice of the balls’, Alan Dedicoat (you can catch it on-demand at the GGP Installers Awards website). But we were kept on the edge of our seats as the category was the evening’s penultimate award.

Just before announcing the winner, Chris Beedel, FENSA Director of Membership said:

“The standard of entries this year has been exceptionally high during challenging circumstances for our FENSA Approved Installers. Operating during the Covid-19 pandemic, they’ve navigated lockdown uncertainty, unprecedented consumer demand, and supply instability to deliver some amazing projects.”

We knew we were among some pretty stiff competition, but, as the six, shortlisted nominees were announced, we were more than ecstatic to be chosen as the Installation Of The Year 2020 winner.

Awards and accolades

To win the award was as unexpected as it was amazing. But it tells us the hard work put in by the whole team over the last year has been recognised and has made a really challenging year completely worthwhile. And to cap it off, we were judged to have been one of the best installations FENSA has ever seen since being launched in 2002. What an accolade!

When asked by FENSA about winning the award, Nathan McCarter, our founder and owner, said “As a family-run business, we were proud and excited to have been shortlisted. But to hear the announcement and discover we won has left us lost for words.

Everything we do goes into giving our customers the best service we can, from start to finish, to create beautiful, handcrafted products they can enjoy for generations to come. But we couldn’t have done it on our own and we would like to thank our amazing team for their hard work and dedication, the endless support of our families and, of course, all of our customers.”

Obviously, we’re totally overwhelmed to win and it’s something every business strives for, but we won’t let it go to our heads. After a socially-distanced celebration, we’re all continuing to work hard and create beautifully bespoke, handcrafted, wooden windows and doors to authentic designs for all our customers.
